Ingredients
- ½ lb (225 g) sliced ham
- 8 slices bread
- ½ lb (225 g) sliced Gouda cheese
- 1 large egg
- 4 wooden skewers
Cooking Instructions
Lay out four slices of bread. Layer each with sliced ham, followed by Gouda cheese. Top with the remaining four slices of bread to make four sandwiches.
Cut each sandwich into four equal squares, making 16 sandwich bites.
Thread the four sandwich squares onto a wooden skewer, creating four sandwich skewers.
Beat the egg in a shallow bowl. Dip each sandwich skewer into the egg, making sure all sides are lightly coated.
Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes.
Place the sandwich skewers in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Air fry for 8–10 minutes, turning halfway through, until the bread is golden and crispy and the cheese is melted.
Serve warm with fresh vegetables such as cucumber, carrot sticks, bell peppers, or cherry tomatoes. These sandwich skewers are also perfect for packing into kids’ lunch boxes.

TIP:
Use sturdy wooden skewers and trim them if needed to fit your air fryer basket. Don’t soak the bread in the egg – just coat it lightly for a crisp exterior. Flip the skewers halfway through cooking for even browning and pair with fresh vegetables, fruit, or a small dipping sauce for a lunch-box-friendly meal.
